On-Campus Placement Process

On-campus recruitment process

  1. Pre placement session: Recruiters and company representatives talk about the company. This is common to all company recruitment processes. Note that a certain part of the presentation can be re-iterated by the candidate at the interview stage to catch the attention of the recruiter which is useful to stand out in the crowd during the final rounds or to ask the recruiter questions about the company.
  2. Online test (OT): Common to other recruitment processes. The test differs from company to company and has a mix of coding, logical reasoning, aptitude and sometimes essays or video recorded interviews (rare, happened for ZS Associates)
  3. Group discussion/JAM (Just A Minute): The topics may be related to technology or may not be too. It may be a sensitive topic in some cases too, which may lead to argumentative GDs, avoid getting into the argument and say whatever you speak with confidence.Usually you are given 30seconds-1minute for thinking, and around 1-2minutes to speak, students are divided into rooms and shortlisted from those groups for further rounds. Group discussions at this stage are also common to ensure good team spirit and communication. Some companies may give case studies to read and analyze and then present for a minute or two. Knowing about current-affairs topics is great!
  4. Face-to-Face interviews: CVs are collected at this stage. Follow Interview tips given on the ‘Online Test’ or ‘Interview Preparation'PDFs for role specific guidance. In general, questions are asked regarding basic coding, personal development, to check confidence and communication skills, personal and professional interests. It may be 1 or 2 and sometimes 3 rounds of technical interviews followed by HR Round.
  5. HR Round: The HR round is basically to test if you are a good-fit for the organisation and to test your communication skills. This may sometimes be a stress interview to test your ability to cope up with stressful situations. Do NOT be worried and be confident. Prepare basic questions like ‘Tell me about yourself, your hobbies, interests, strengths and weaknesses and how do you overcome them’ etc. At the end you will be given a chance to ask questions to the HR. Make sure you DO ask a few. You can research about the company before the interview
